The Gods Have Blessed Us With a Season 2 Trailer for ‘American Gods’

After a very long journey to a second season, Starz has finally released a trailer for the new season of American Gods.

Before we talk about the trailer, let’s talk about some of the roadblocks along the way. Showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green decided to leave the show after championing for the international bestseller to become a television series. The show had to find someone to take over and author Neil Gaiman decided to assist Jesse Alexander as the showrunner. But then Alexander had to leave due to delays in filming. On top of that, two major stars left the series. Gillian Anderson and Kristin Chenoweth. Despite all of that, the series was able to fill in the gaps left behind and speed ahead.

The final product? Well, we will have to see when the series returns to Starz on March 10. But in the meantime, we have this trailer that shows us the war to come between the old and new gods. A battle that is going to look glorious and most likely extremely bloody.

Here’s the official description:

In Season Two, the battle moves inexorably toward crisis point as the destinies of gods and men collide. While Mr. World plots revenge for the attack against him in Season One, Shadow throws in his lot with Wednesday’s attempt to convince the Old Gods of the case for full-out war, with Laura and Mad Sweeney in tow. A council at the House on the Rock explodes into chaos, sending deities both Old and New on quests across America that will converge on Cairo, Illinois: forcing Shadow to carve out a place as a believer in this strange new world of living gods — a dark world where change demands commitment and faith requires terrible sacrifice.

I’m a huge fan of the novel and loved the first season so I’m going to stick with the series and see where it goes. I really am hoping they were able to make it work. Especially since the series has the ability to really dive deep into the backgrounds of all of the gods and the unlucky humans roped into the war and those various stories could work with different people constantly at the helm.

Are you excited for the new season or do you have worries?
