“This wry debut is at once a fanboy’s homage to the history of superhero storytelling in America…”

Raise your hand if you are still dealing with the trauma of Avengers: Infinity War. (Raises hand high, while sobbing.) If you’re looking for something new to mend your heart; then I got the superhero for you: The Astonishing Black Spark.  The Black Spark, is a new superhero, that many of you may relate to. When he isn’t a superhero, he’s Donald McDougal; stuck in a dead end job, losing the love of his life and aimlessly going through life. One day, he’s struck by lightning and he is given powers. His journey into heroism isn’t easy and comes at a price.

Philly geeks will be able to meet the author of Black Spark; Charlie J. Eskew, on September 8 at Amalgam Comics & Coffeehouse from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Eskew will be signing copies of Tales of the Astonishing Black Spark and hold a Q&A. Copies of the book will be available at Amalgam to purchase. This event will be facilitated by Editor-in-Chief of Girl’s in Capes; Feliza Casano. This event is free to attend but you can RSVP on their Facebook Event Page.

Tales of the Astonishing Black Spark is a darkly humorous novel that makes a great next read for fans of politically satiric comics like BLACK, Genius, and The American Way. The book will be available on Amazon September 4, 2018.
