It looks like we will be say goodbye to winter forever in early 2019.

During a TCA panel today, HBO president Casey Bloys, gave Game of Thrones fans an update on both season 8 and the prequels. Bloys cleared up some rumors regarding the production of the upcoming Jane Goldman, creator and showrunner, and George R.R. Martin assisted prequel beginning production this fall. According to Bloys those were just reports and the series will hopefully start production in the new year, you know since they still need to find a cast and director!

Regarding the other prequels the network had in the works, they are not happening at this point in time but that doesn’t they are dead. So it is always possible we could get more Westeros int he future!

Now onto that Game of Thrones season 8 update, Bloys won’t reveal much about the final season but he has confirmed that the season will be coming,“Sometime in 2019…first half.”

Well there you have it!

Game of Thrones will return in 2019, the first half!
