Hello fellow geeks. It’s your friendly neighborhood editor. It has been quite a long time since I was able to address you directly, due in no small part to a great number of happenings in my own life. Over the last few years, I have seen a number of shifts in my career which have taken me to new and interesting places, but which have left me extremely busy and unable to properly fill in my role as the head of this site.
In that time, my associate editors, Kait Calabro and Monica Piluso, have really stepped up their game. They’ve taken the lead editorially and covered everything from news to recaps to events and more. It’s a lot more than I ever asked of them when they signed on with me several years ago, and I am eternally grateful for all they have done.
I started this site on a whim in my final year of college. I was looking for a creative outlet while I worked on term papers and at my internships and seasonal jobs. It sustained me through early employment opportunities and has served me well as I’ve ventured further into the workforce. It has brought me to my first comic book conventions, helped me forge friendships and professional relationships and even took me out to sunny Los Angeles a couple times as we were honored with Geeky Award nominations.
But a site like this requires attention in order to grow, and that is attention I have not been able to give. It is attention I will not be able to offer in the future. That isn’t fair; not to the site itself and not to the people who have poured their time and energy into it.
Because I respect those people, and because I still care deeply about All Geek to Me and its content and readers, I have decided to step down as Editor-in-Chief and to pass on my ownership of the site to people who remain dedicated to its continued growth. Both Kait and Monica will take on increased roles, and I know you’ll be seeing some new faces in here. Kait will be taking over as Managing Editor, while Monica steps in as Editorial Editor.
I’ll still be around, of course. I may even continue writing for your new overlords if they let me. I’ve enjoyed this journey so far, and I am excited to see what the next chapter holds for both myself and All Geek to Me.
If you’d like to keep in touch, please follow me on Twitter, where I’m sure you’ll enjoy my continued ravings about all things geek culture. Plus, plenty of cat pics.
