It’s happening! It’s finally happening!
In a reunion that’s almost as long as I am old (don’t age shame me youngins), Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are officially teaming up as Bill and Ted once again! Bill & Ted Face the Music will be directed by Galaxy Quest‘s Dean Parisot. Another score for this movie. Galaxy Quest is hilarious and a perfect example of embracing nostalgia that seems foolish.
Bill & Ted writer Ed Solomon had an interview with Digital Spy back in January where he talked about revisiting the characters with co-writer Chris Matheson and a third entry in the series. Revisiting the characters close to 30 years later meant seeing them as middle-aged men with families. Which definitely seems like a challenge when you think of the goofy time-traveling characters.
Solomon did share a synopsis of his script:
It appears that the duo will go back in time and interact with their younger selves, the iconic Circle K will still play a large part, and the film will even use footage from the original ’89 movie! “There’s actually a scene–one of my favorite scenes in the whole movie–where middle-aged, 50-year-old Bill and Ted return to the Circle K and see their teen selves and Rufus, and actually interact with their teenage selves, played by their actual teenage selves,” Solomon told Digital Spy.
Sadly, one character won’t be joining the next movie. Bill and Ted’s mentor Rufus, played by George Carlin, passed away 10 years ago. But Solomon did hint that a character named Kelly, which is the name of Carlin’s daughter, will play a very vital role.
No word yet on when this movie will be released but this news is enough for me right now.
I love sexy John Wick, Keanu Reeves, but I honestly can’t wait to see him revive the goofy Ted!
