Eli Roth is Bringing a Timeless Adventure to Your Children With ‘The House With a Clock in its Walls’

Did you grow up loving the children’s book The House With a Clock in its Walls by John Bellairs? Well, today is your lucky day because the beloved book is coming to the big screen this fall and surprisingly it is being directed by none other than horror aficionado, Eli Roth.

Yes, that Eli Roth. The man who brought us HostelCabin Fever, and Inglorious Basterds. I’m curious to find out why he decided to change things up and direct a movie for children. Granted, the story is gothic in nature but not bloody. As far as I know, this movie isn’t going to give us a crazy twist like that. Here’s the synopsis of the movie:

The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart.  But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.

Well, the dead are involved so it’s not a far stretch for Roth.

Also starring in the movie is Jack Black (hilarious), Cate Blanchett (amazing), Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Vanessa Anne Williams, Lorenza Izzo, and Sunny Suljic. The movie was written by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke so, to be honest, this movie has a lot of great and interesting things going for it.

I can’t wait to see and hope my niece won’t mind me dragging her to it!

The House With a Clock in its Walls will bewitch audiences on September 21, 2018.
