Well, it seems that the Titans TV series will be wasting no time in introducing the menacing character of Jason Todd also known as the Red Hood. The series released that episode seven of the first season is titled “Jason Todd.”
It’s already known that Brenton Thwaites will be playing Dick Grayson, so theories are that he will bestow Jason Todd with the title of Robin, while he becomes Nightwing. And this also means the show is setting up the eventual storyline of the Red Hood. But let’s back up a bit.
Jason Todd was another orphan adopted by Bruce Wayne and trained to be his sidekick Robin. Except he wasn’t anything like the Boy Wonder that Dick Grayson was. He was a bratty teenager that took a sick pleasure in beating up criminals. Fans hated him so much that DC Comics actually put out a dedicated phone line asking if they should kill Todd off after he was beaten by the Joker. The result? DC Comics ended up killing Jason Todd.
When they revived him as the Red Hood, fans loved his viciousness. Funny how things change.
So right now it’s a guessing game on how the show will handle Jason Todd. Could the show be using Jason Todd to drum up interest? Or will the Teen Titans series use this time to introduce the Bat-family since Fox has Gotham and Warner Bros is hitting walls with Batman-related movies?
Titans is set to hit television screens this year. Joining Thwaites are Teagan Croft as Raven, Anna Diop as Starfire, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy.
