Well, the world is getting used to multiple Franco(s) walking around!
It was announced this week that Fox’s X-Men universe is looking to expand and has set their eyes on James Franco to star in a stand-alone film about Multiple Man, the mutant that has the power to duplicate himself.
The film which is under development at Fox will be produced by Simon Kinberg and is slated to be penned by Allan Heinberg – one of the writers of the blockbuster hit Wonder Woman!
For those of you, like myself, that are not super familiar with Multiple Man here are some important things to know:
Alter Ego: James Arthur “Jamie” Madrox
Powers: Ability to instantly duplicate himself
First Appearance: the 1975 release of Giant Size Fantastic Four #4
Last Film Appearance: Eric Dane played Madrox in the 2006 release of X-Men: The Last Stand
Multiple Man would mark Franco’s return to the superhero world. Remember back in the early 2000s the first round of Spider-Man films? Yea, Franco was in them! Though now Franco maybe considered a Renaissance man who has not dipped into the franchise pool in over ten years – so why now? Cause why the f*!k not! No but let’s chat about this for a second. It is not like you are reading that James Franco is in talks to play Captain America or Batman. Franco is going to literally play a superhero who’s number one power is multiplying himself! So with a character like that and an actor like Franco – this film could just be strange enough to work perfectly!
The X-Men universe is really expanding over the next couple years with the release of several highly-anticipated including New Mutants, Deadpool 2, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, and hopefully that Gambit film starring Channing Tatum.
