‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Is Coming to the CW to Terrify (or Delight) Viewers

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! The CW is developing a show based on the comic series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. And I cannot wait!

Now, this won’t be a reboot of the popular TGIF staple starring Melissa Joan Hart, Sabrina the Teenage Witch that we all hold dear in our hearts. Especially for Salem the sassy cat. The Chilling Adventures is just that, chilling. It’s a dark and dramatic imagining of Sabrina. All I’m going to say is that Sabrina is basically a child bride for Satan and her teenage rebellious self isn’t exactly all for that. She also helps cause the zombie apocalypse in Riverdale during a favor she mucks up for her dear friend Jughead.

According to a press release from the WB and the CW, writer of both comics Riverdale and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, will serve as the writer and executive producer on the series along with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Jon Goldwater, as fellow executive producers and Lee Toland Krieger as executive producer and director.

There is a script order for a one-hour drama series that is dark with elements of occultism, witchcraft, and general horror themes. It also better star a Salem that is sarcastic as hell.

So does this mean the shows will be connected? That’s still not known but fans of Riverdale were given a tease in the season one finale when F P Jones was reading a Sabrina comic in his jail cell. And while Riverdale is pretty dark itself, it’s nowhere near what happens in Sabrina. Hence, my guess is we won’t see Sabrina making a physical cameo alongside Archie and the gang.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is aiming to air in the 2018-2019 season.
