It’s official! Patty Jenkins is returning to the world of Wonder Woman to direct the sequel and make sure it’s just as empowering as the first movie.
The first solo Wonder Woman was a massive hit for DC and Warner Bros so they would have been dumb to pass on Jenkins for the position of director for the sequel. Don’t argue with me on that point, we’ve all seen Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman. It grossed $409 million at the domestic box office and $813 million worldwide. And sparked women and young girls to be inspired that they can kick ass and be compassionate every single day like the character of Wonder Woman and Patty Jenkins.
Allegedly, Jenkins will be making $8 million to write, produce, and direct the sequel, which would make her the highest paid female director of all time. To put that in perspective, she only made $1 million for the first movie. Way to smash that glass ceiling, Jenkins!
Gal Gadot has already signed on to appear in the sequel so I’m sure the ladies will have much more behind the scenes moments to share as they kick ass again. And we cannot wait.
Wonder Woman 2 is slated for a December 13, 2019, release.
