“This season, it’s incredibly romantic…”
Damn you Frasers, you got us all swooning over here!
We learned some important information regarding the upcoming third season of Outlander this week at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour. After trailers, teasers, photos, and interviews have been dropping for the the new season the past couple weeks, fans have been wondering when we will see Jamie and Claire reunite. While during the TCA panel, showrunner Ronald D. Moore confirmed that time will hold these two lovebird back for SIX EPISODES!
As always, we take our cues from the book first. The books laid out this episodic story of Jamie. You had five chapters of his life [beginning with the Battle of Culloden]. That’s five episodes right there.
During that time the show will also show what Claire has been up to during her separation from Jamie, showcasing her “relationship with Frank and the disillusion of that marriage, her becoming a doctor and raising Brianna.”
Moore went on to state:
We decided on that parallel structure for the first half of the season. We never really varied from it. It felt like the right amount of time, and it felt like it was enough to build a want, a desire, in the audience to get Claire and Jamie back together so that they were really pushing for it and getting excited, but it wasn’t dragging it out too long.
Six episodes is a long time but hello so is 20 years – I think we all want to feel the pain and then sheer joy of seeing our two soul mates apart and back together! Starz also released a little featurette that has some new footage and interviews with Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe. Check it out below…
“This a couple that lasts a lifetime.”
Outlander returns on September 10th at 8 pm on Starz!
