I am not a human…”

It looks like Kara Danvers has left the building. During the Supergirl SDCC panel, fans of the DC superhero got their first look at the series upcoming third season and let’s just say there is going to be some dark days coming to National City when Supergirl returns in October. Take a look at the trailer below…

During the panel this is what Melissa Benoist had to say about the upcoming season:

The first two seasons, she’s been trying the scales of balancing Kara Danvers and Supergirl and figuring out her identity. Now where we pick up in season 3, the scale is leaning very heavily on Supergirl. I think that’s how she’s dealing with this grief of sending her boyfriend into a chasm in space. From what I’ve seen so far, she really is trusting herself and only herself right now and obviously relying on her friends, but she’s been pretty self-reliant so far, which is nice.

Speaking of that boyfriend, here is what executive producer Robert Rovner had to say about the return of Mon-El, “Mon-El will return at some point, but how he does is one of the central mysteries of season 3.”

Executive producer, Jessica Queller, explained the main theme of the third season as well, “The theme of season 3 is ‘What does it mean to be human?’ and all of those characters will be exploring that question, especially Kara.”

In addition to the trailer dropping during the panel, it was also announced that Adrian Pasdar, Carl Lumbly, Yael Grobglas, and Emma Tremblay will be joining Supergirl in season 3. Pasdar will be taking on the role of real estate developer, Morgan Edge. Morgan Edge will be taking on the role of classic DC character M’yrnn J’onzz aka father of J’onn J’onnz. Grobglas will be taking on the role of DC character Psi who is a psychic villain, which is simply the best kind of villain. Tremblay will be taking on the role of Ruby a girl who has a deep love for Supergirl.

Though the best news of the day is fact that THE QUEEN OF ALL MEDIA, Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart), will make a return in the season 3 premiere! Grant/Flockhart are expecting to have a recurring role throughout the season!

Supergirl returns October 9th at 8 pm on The CW!
