‘The Last Jedi’ Reel Excites Fans at D23 But Carrie Fisher Stole the Show

As most Disney fans and geeks know, the D23 Expo Fan Convention has been happening the last few days. And the House of Mouse did not disappoint this year!

Director Rian Johnson along with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Laura Dern, Gwendoline Christie, Kelly Marie Tran, Benicio del Toro, and Mark Hamill took to the D23 stage yesterday to give Star Wars fans a behind-the-scenes reel from the upcoming The Last Jedi. In this reel, fans saw Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren and Ridley’s Rey battle it out with wooden sticks for lightsabers. So remember kids, even the Jedis themselves use sticks. The Millenium Falcon could be seen parked by a camp fire. Laura Dern with her beautiful purple hair portraying Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo. The shiny new metallic uniform of Gwendoline Christie’s Captain Phasma (which Christie said was hot to wear).

But the main moment that stole the hearts of fans was the final shot featuring Carrie Fisher in her General Leia outfit. “It’s about family, and that’s what so powerful about it,” Fisher said in the reel about shooting what turned out to be her final Star Wars. The actress then gave a salute to the camera.

Mark Hamill added that it was fitting that Fisher would have the last moment of the reel. “It’s accurate because she always got the last word in real life,” said Hamill. “And that’s the way it should be.”

Hamill said that The Last Jedi is a real game-changer for the franchise. Cue my excitement!

Disney also released some gorgeous new posters for the upcoming film. Everyone looks like a badass, especially General Leia!

So who is going to decorate their entire living room with these posters?

The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
