It’s Going to be an American Horror Election – Ryan Murphy Announces Theme for Season 7

As if this past election season wasn’t horrific enough, it’s about to get a whole lot worse.

Ryan Murphy announced during Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen! that the next season of American Horror Story will be focused on the 2016 presidential election. Fans gleefully joked that the election almost mirrored an AHS type story and well, Murphy must have thought so too.

“I don’t have a title, but the season [we] begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through…So I think that will be interesting for a lot of people.”

Host Andy Cohen asked if a Donald Trump lookalike would appear on the show and Murphy coyly replied that it’s a maybe. You know it’s happening and I would crack up if Murphy and FX were able to recruit Alec Baldwin for the role.

But an election season makes me wonder how “Murder House” and “Coven” are supposed to fit in like Murphy told EW’s Popfest last year. Could the witches possibly be influencing the election? Or will they take out the evil and possibly demonic political figure? Could one of the presidential nominees have grown up in Murder House?

Let’s just hope this election story is better than the weird fake documentary “Roanoke.” That season was just a mess.
