‘Stranger Things’ Pays Homage to the ‘Ghostbusters’ in Super Bowl Teaser

I hate football so I’m relying on others to tell me when the ad for Stranger Things is available online right after it airs during the Super Bowl. But thanks to EW, I’ve got a sneak peek and it is goddamn adorable!

The teaser image from the Super Bowl trailer shows Dustin, Lucas, and Mike outside of school dressed as Ghostbusters. No one else seems to be dressed though so I guess the boys are the only cool kids in town when it comes to Halloween. But where’s Will?! Is being a ghostbuster boring when you’ve gone through some other dimension heaviness?

The second season of Stranger Things takes place in 1984 and everything about it has been pretty hush-hush. Executive producer Shawn Levy did tell EW that, “The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn’t.” Cue the drastic music.

Stranger Things will return to Netflix this year. Hopefully we will have a date once the teaser trailer airs during the Super Bowl.
