We’re not in Central City anymore …
Or we are, but it’s certainly not the one we left last season.
Following all the drama of The Flash’s second season, Barry Allen took it upon himself to change history, running back in time and saving his mother’s life, causing massive changes in the fabric of his own reality. Now, thanks to the trailer above, we’ve finally got a real look at what those changes are.
Earlier this summer, we got a look at some promo photos of Wally West suiting up as Kid Flash, but now we’ve got a quick clip of him in all his red and yellow action.
The real takeaways though, are the major differences in Barry’s relationships. Obviously, his parents are both alive, and as a result, Barry didn’t grow up with Iris and Joe. Last season saw Iris and Barry about to embark on the romance they’ve toyed with since the pilot episode. In this version of Central City, though, they barely know each other. If the trailer is any indication, however, it seems like we’ll be getting the standard “I won’t screw with my friends lives, I’ll just try to become their friend in this version” storyline.
Such is also the case with Cisco, who is doing very well for himself as a wealthy businessman who wants nothing to do with our favorite speedster.
With another evil speedster bearing down on Barry and our friends, and with some eerie visions in the head of our hero, there’s no telling how long this Flashpoint universe will last, or whether elements of it will trickle into the righted universe should we ever return to it. Right now, it’s safe to assume we’ll be in for a wild ride come Fall.
