“If you build it, they will come…” Especially in the shadowhunting world.
In no real surprise to anyone – though it is a joy – author of The Mortal Instruments/Shadowhunters multiple series, Cassandra Clare, announced this week that she will be penning an ADULT series based off Magnus Bane.
Yes, adult. NOT young-adult!
The Mortal Instruments/Shadowhunters fan-favorite and High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus, is one of the oldest characters within the Shadowhunters world so clearly there has to be a lot of tales to be told. Clare exclusively revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the Magnus spin-off will be a trilogy that will be published by Saga Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster. The trilogy will co-written by Wesley Chu. Below is what Clare had to say to EW about this new series:
Over the years writing the Shadowhunter books, Magnus Bane has emerged as one of the most fun and fascinating characters for me to bring to life. He’s always had a lot of secrets — there are so many things we don’t know about Magnus, from the story of his first love to the secrets of his parentage, to the beginning of his relationship with Alec. All those are things I was able to touch on in The Bane Chronicles, but I’m excited to dig in even more deeply in these three volumes devoted to Magnus, his past, his future, and his present.
Though I did not see a Magnus series coming, I am not surprised. Clare LOVES adding new stories to the Shadowhunters world and clearly us fans love reading them!
The first untitled Magnus Bane book in the trilogy will hit bookshelves in November 2017.
