Celebrate Hellboy’s 21st Birthday With A Beer!

Dark Horse isn’t just going to have a little blurb about Hellboy’s birthday or make a special edition cover of the comic. They went big and teamed up with fellow Portland based company, Rogue Ales to concoct the limited edition, Right Hand of Doom Red Ale. The brew is scheduled to be released tomorrow at Things From Another World Comics during a signing with Hellboy creator Mike Mignola, along with Matt Kindt, Eric Powell, and Brian Wood.

Mignola shouldn’t be surprised that his creation is this successful, but he is slightly surprised his comic has it’s own beer.

“When Dark Horse Comics published the first Hellboy story 21 years ago, I never thought there’d be a Hellboy beer,” Mignola said in a press release. “But I really can’t imagine a better time for Rogue to introduce the Right Hand of Doom beer. If Hellboy was real, I guess he’d finally be able to buy me a beer.”

According to Mike Richardson, President of Dark Horse, Rogue Ales actually approached them with the idea of making a beer to celebrate the legacy of the infamous red monkey.

Brett Joyce, President of Rogue Ales, said,

“This beer is dedicated to the B.P.R.D,” Brett Joyce, President of Rogue Ales, said in the announcement. “Right Hand of Doom is brewed with all the same passion and intensity that Mike Mignola and Dark Horse have brought to Hellboy for the past 21 years.”

The beer is brewed with Chocolate and Munich malts with Bravo, Perle and Cascade hops, and is 6.8% ABV  and 82 IBU. It is available for shipment starting 02/23/2015. Check with Rogue’s site about all of the ordering details.
