Well, “all men must die.”
The showrunners, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, of Game of Thrones like to keep people (meaning the readers of A Song of Ice and Fire) on their toes when it comes to mixing things up season to season. Rumor has it that Game of Thrones season 5, which will be pulling material from novels A Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons, will diverge from the source material more than previous seasons. Now George R.R. Martin has confirmed those rumors.
At the Writers Guild of America Awards this past Saturday, Martin said that fans of the book series will be getting some surprises when the TV series returns in April.
People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy. Everybody better be on their toes. [Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss] are even bloodier than I am.
Sophie Turner, aka Sansa Stark, has already warned fans that Sansa has a “super traumatic” scene in the fifth season that may trump the shocking events of seasons past. “There’s some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding,” stated Turner.
The waiting is killing me!
Who do you think will meet their maker in season 5?
Game of Thrones returns Sunday, April 12 at 9pm on HBO.
