Casting for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film seems to be coming along at a pretty good clip these days. As we previously reported, Meghan Fox has signed on to play our reptilian heroes’ reporter friend April O’Neil, and donning the half-shells are up and comers Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard, and Noel Fisher. And yesterday, THR reported that funnyman Will Arnett has also jumped on board, though his role is being kept secret.
Arnett has previously starred in comedies for both TV and film, including Arrested Development, Up All Night, and Blades of Glory. As for the best guess on what character he’ll be playing, we know it won’t be the Turtles’ other human friend Casey – that role has yet to be cast – but still up for grabs are their rat sensei Splinter, and arch-nemesis Shredder.
So far, all we know about the film is that it will be a live action/CG hybrid film which will cast our heroes as Ninja Turtles from space, rather than sewer dwelling, pizza eating, cowabunga yelling badasses. We’re not getting our hopes up.
As of right now, Paramount has set the film’s release date for June 6, 2014.
