NYCC: Evil Dead Unveiled
If you’ve been hiding in the basement, you might have missed out on the news that Evil Dead is getting re-booted. You can groan all you want but this movie is in full force as the New York Comic Con proved yesterday at the packed Evil Dead panel. The original portray-er of the infamously snarky and goofy Ash, Bruce Campbell, was on hand to ease the transition into director Fede Alvarez’s vision with actress Jane Levy (Suburgatory) as a female version of Ash.
Campbell assured the crowd that the remake will be just as good as the original film. While, Alvarez promised that fans would not be disappointed because the remake contains the soul and style of everything that made the original a cult classic.
Exclusive footage was shown on the large screens in the IGN Theater that yielded a small standing ovation from the crowd. The footage contained enough gore to satisfy the Evil Dead fans. The panelists confirmed that there would be lots of nods to the original and footage revealed that familiar items such as the cabin, the chainsaw, the Book of the Dead, the destroyed bridge, and much more are visible for those on the lookout. Levy teased that viewers should pay attention to the names of the characters in the film is an important thing to note, as they make up a certain word.

If it does not include the stuffed deer head I will be upset. But if Bruce Campbell is blessing off on it I guess it can’t be all that bad, really, maybe, sort of, I think so……..
