Exploit Causes Mass Deaths in ‘World of Warcraft’

Last weekend many players logged on to their World of Warcraft accounts to find their characters lying dead, along with countless others. The mass virtual murder was reportedly caused by an exploit which affected both player and non-player characters.

Blizzard was quick to respond, issuing a hotfix, which they promise will stop it from happening again. It doesn’t appear as though they know where the attack originated, though they have asked for player help to track down the perpetrator(s).

Blizzard has issued an apology. They are not, however, planning to refund any game time to those players whose accounts were affected.
