Hasbro to Bring ‘Monopoly’, ‘Action Man’, and ‘Hippos’ to Big Screen
Well, the toy giant may have lost its deal with Universal after to spectacular flop that was this summer’s Battleship, but that isn’t stopping Hasbro from bringing more of its properties to a theater near you.
The toy maker has reportedly inked a deal with Emmett/Furla – the brains behind the current hit End of Watch. The production company is set to begin work on three films based on popular Hasbro products. These include Monopoly (which was originaly part of the Universal deal), Action Man (the Brit version of G.I. Joe), and – no joke – Hungry, Hungry Hippos.
After the release of the Transformers films, Battleship, and the rumors of a Monopoly adaptation, jokes flew all over the internet about the extreme – and extremely ridiculous – lengths this could go to; even resulting in posters like this one (click for full image):
Obviously, these weren’t quite as far fetched as we thought.
Monopoly, the first of these films out of the gate, will begin production in early 2013.
Since there are no details yet on the plot of any of these films, and since the internet is obviously much more clever than us, we curious as to what you all think they’ll be about. Leave a comment with your best guess as to the plot of any of these films. If the past is any evidence, we’re guessing a lot of aliens.
[If anyone knows who made the above poster, please let us know so we can offer credit.]
