‘Hack/Slash’ Will Get You in the Mood for Halloween

Hack/Slash #18 is the perfect comic to pick up now that the Halloween season has officially started. Killers and monsters are always on the top of Cassie and Vlad’s list.

For those of you that don’t know, Cassie Hack is the lone survivor of an attack by a slasher called the Lunch Lady. Now she travels the world with her sweet monstrous partner and friend Vlad, as they hunt down and destroy slasher’s wherever they find them.

The issue coming out this week on stands centers around an old foe named the Catalog Killer who picks his victims by how much they order. The owner of The Mystery Solver’s Catalog, tracks down Cassie’s friend Cat in the hopes of saving her life.

Writer James Lowder creates a great story and really gives his characters personality. It reminds me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with it’s strong female characters, wittiness, and horror. Matt Merhoff and Carlos Badilla do an amazing job with their artwork, making every page vibrant and full of spunk (yes, I said spunk).

Seriously, pick up this comic if you want a story that is the perfect mixture of fun, horror, and mystery.
