OH MY GODRIC True Blood Season Five is Half Way Done

True Blood Season 5

I am a little late but I have recently become obsessed with the HBO hit series True Blood -it might have to do with the Swedish god that is Alexander Skarsgard – and season five is not disappointing me when it comes to my favorite blood suckers.

The show has brought back vampire Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hara), who I think I am suppose to fear, but just end up finding hilarious, and former leader of the Fellowship of the Sun-turn-vampire-without-explanation Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian), who is not only proud to vampire but also proud to be “a gay American vampire”.

Season five also bring a group of new vampires that work for the authority. Including Roman (Christopher Meloni) who plays the guardian (which from I get is the head of the authority and a scary vampire), Salome (Valentina Cervi), and Nora (Lucy Giffiths) who is Eric Northman’s (Alexander Skarsgard) religious crazy sister.  But without a doubt my favorite new vampire is Molly (Tina Majorino) who is tech support for the authority and shares so funny moments with vampire Eric and Bill (Stephen Moyer).

The beautiful bromance between vampire Eric and Bill dominate the first half of the season in their quest to find Russell and save their dead lives.  It is about time these two focus on being vampires and friends instead of fighting over Sookie.  Majority of this season is about how the authority, vampire religion, and mainstreaming could not only effect vampire society but everyone.

But like any good melodrama there is just so much going on for me to write it all out so here is a list of story lines that are important…

  • Tara is now a vampire and Pam is her maker.  I am not sure if human Tara is more annoying then vampire Tara but either way I am always questioning why they wont let her just die!
  • We learn Eric and Pam’s back story which was lovely and only took five flipping seasons…I want more
  • Sookie and Jason are finding out more about the death of their parents from the fairies.
  • Terry is being chased by a fire monster and had to leave Arlene to protect her
  • Lafayette is dealing with the death Jesus and the wicked magic that is inside him
  • Because Sookie is only half fairy so she can lose her powers so now is s trying be become more human
  • There is a hate group who dress in Obama masks going around shooting vampires, shifters, etc.  Sam and Luna were both shot and now Sam is determined to find the shooters.
  • There is some wolf drama but I really just don’t care
  • Andy does not think he is a Sheriff but does get a girlfriend out of Holly
  • Jessica is being an annoying teenage vampire like usual

We are only seven episodes in but so much has happened and I am even getting overwhelmed and excited just writing this post about what is still in store for the rest of the season.

Thanks to Trubies (a term I learned thanks to Twitter) a trailer for the rest of season five was release to the public at Comic-Con in San Diego a week ago and it left me pretty speechless! For those that have been complaining that season five has been a snore I think they should start tuning in because the second half of season five seems to be jammed packed with action, sex, guns, magic, and lots of blood! Season five will mark the end of creator Alan Ball (American Beauty, Six Feet Under) reign as executive producer and head boss man and I highly doubt Ball will go out without a bang in classic HBO style leaving us wanting so so much more after the credits roll at the end of episode 12

Check out the Comic-Con trailer above to see what we have to look forward to and catch up on season five and pervious seasons of the show on HBO GO.I would like to end this post with some on my favorite one liners from season five so far:
